Hello, and welcome
to American University Model United Nations!
In mid-November when you come together at AUMUNC IV you
will step out of your role as a student and step into that of an
Ambassador to the United Nations. Simultaneously, you will be asked
to take on the world. The issues you and your fellow delegates will
face are ones that you will be asked to address in the future as
leaders in your community and the world.
In order to best help you accept this role, the
Secretariat of AUMUNC has come up with a unique dual-track
conference. We feel that this dual-track system optimizes the
experience for all schools attending because all interested students
can find their niche.
In Track 1, you will encounter a collegiate-style
conference with smaller crisis committees and national cabinets .
Track 1 aims to challenge experienced delegates as they tackle a
myriad of different topics ranging from the United Nations Security
Council to Sino-American relations in the Coordinated Crisis.
In Track 2, you will learn more about the workings of the
UN and Model UN conferences by participation in General Assembly
Committees, the Security Council, a Special Commission on Terrorism
and several workshops. The chairs for these committees will have
been specially selected for their ability to nurture
less-experienced delegates. Put simply, by having delegates in
committees with peers of their own experience level, we will
introduce them to MUN and ensure that they are comfortable with the
process.
Another fun aspect to our conference will be the
opportunity to be briefed at the Embassies of the countries you
represent on the issues at hand. This is a once in a lifetime
experience to enjoy all that Washington, DC has to offer. We hope
you will join us for this year's exciting conference!
All the Best,
Caroline Mayhew
Secretary General, AUMUNC IV
